Located on the Van Hook Arm of North Dakota’s Lake Sakakawea, Van Hook Resort is your destination for summer fun!  Van Hook offers unmatched boater access, and all-day-use facilities are open to the public.  Amazing fishing draws guests from around the state as Van Hook is well known as the “walleye nursery of Sakakawea.”  As soon as the ice melts in the spring, anglers flock to Van Hook to take part in some of the best fishing that Lake Sakakawea has to offer.

We offer three well-maintained boat ramps with plenty of parking.  No boat?  No problem.  Acres of shoreline make “The Hook” an ideal place for shore fishing.  Shore fishermen pull in walleye, catfish, smallmouth bass, and northern pike.

The recreation area is perfect for weekend getaways with family and friends.  The park is full of amenities to make your stay enjoyable, including swimming beaches, basketball & volleyball courts, horseshoe pits, a pickleball court, a cornhole pitch, picnic pavilions, two great playgrounds, fish cleaning stations, ADA boat loading ramp, ADA boat loading lift, courtesy docks, well-stocked bait and tackle shop, gas station, and convenience store.

Van Hook is located seven miles east of New Town, two miles south of the junction of Hwy. 23 and Hwy. 8.  We are always happy to hook you up!
